In dieser Arbeit möchte ich die beiden Länder Deutschland und Niederlande, die von ihrer Größe nicht unterschiedlicher sein könnten, in ihrer Zusammenarbeit im Grenzgebiet näher betrachten. Insbesondere ist es interessant zu erfahren, wie sich die Zusammenarbeit zwischen der deutsch-niederländischen Grenze in den vergangenen Jahren bis heute entwickelt hat. Die Relevanz sehe ich darin, dass das Zusammenarbeiten von Ländern in der heutigen Zeit immer wichtiger wird. So wurde damals die Europäische Union gegründet, um den wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Fortschritt zu fördern. Dazu gehörten auch der Abbau von Handelshemmnissen, die Stärkung eines wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Zusammenhaltes und die Errichtung einer Wirtschafts- und Währungsunion.
